Coat: Smooth

How often should an American Staffordshire Terrier be groomed?

The American Staffordshire Terrier’s short, smooth coat is easy to maintain. Brush once a week using a rubber curry or bristle brush to remove loose hair and keep the coat shiny. They shed lightly to moderately, so regular brushing helps keep your home cleaner. Bathe your Amstaff every 4 to 8 weeks—don’t overdo it, as too much bathing can dry out their skin. Check and clean ears monthly to prevent buildup, and trim nails every 2 to 4 weeks to avoid overgrowth. - Weekly brushing with rubber curry or bristle brush - Bath every 4–8 weeks - Nail trims every 2–4 weeks - Ear cleaning monthly - Pro tidy as needed Their broad color palette means you might spot some staining around white markings, so wipe those areas gently after meals or outdoor time. About the American Staffordshire Terrier

The American Staffordshire Terrier, or Amstaff, is a solid, muscular dog with a smooth, short coat that shows off its strong build. These dogs weigh between 40 and 70 pounds and come in a wide range of colors and patterns—from black and blue brindle to patched whites and tan points. They have a confident stance and a face that can look tough but often hides a gentle heart. Bred originally for tasks like ratting and bull baiting in 19th-century England, Amstaffs were later refined in the U.S. They’re bold and determined, yet they bond deeply with their families. They need an owner who’s firm and consistent. Without proper socialization, they might be wary of other dogs, but with good training, they’re affectionate and protective companions.
